My journey with Saxonvil started in 2020 when my mom, after searching for the right school and environment, sent me to Saxonvil. I needed a place that could accommodate my challenges, including my difficulty learning a second language, and Saxonvil turned out to be the perfect fit. I joined as one of their first students, and two years later, I proudly graduated with my GED, celebrating the achievement alongside the supportive community I’d found there.
During my time at Saxonvil, I navigated COVID-19 with online lessons and later in-person classes when it was safe to return. Although delays in my final exams came up due to needing educational concessions, Saxonvil was there for me, encouraging me to keep going and keep learning.
After earning my GED, I was thrilled to be invited to join Saxonvil’s staff as “Girl Friday.” I started off doing a mix of tasks and soon transitioned to a role in administration, eventually taking over from someone else. I also enjoyed teaching gym classes, helping with reading, and becoming the go-to person for students and staff alike.
While working at Saxonvil, I was still figuring out what I wanted for my future. Eventually, I realized my passion for engineering, but getting into a good university for that path with just a GED would be challenging. So, I chose to pursue my Cambridge A-Levels. Even though I’ve moved on, Saxonvil is still supporting me along this journey, helping me work toward my goals. With both my GED and Cambridge qualifications, I’ll be well-prepared for top university applications, and I’m grateful to have Saxonvil’s ongoing encouragement.
Saxonvil is a special place—a small, welcoming community that’s helped me grow both personally and academically. I’ve gained confidence and improved my communication skills, both of which were challenges for me. I hope more students who could benefit from a smaller, more connected learning environment find their way here, just like I did.
Thank you, Saxonvil, for believing in me and helping me on my journey!
